Mission Work in India
The Braman Foundation of Charities supports various initiatives in India, with a primary focus on education and community development in the Assam region. Its flagship effort is centered on the Asapalli mission, a Christian school and boarding facility founded in 1944 by Julia Rose. Located in Northeast India, Asapalli serves over 200 students, providing education and spiritual guidance, with more than half of its students coming from Hindu backgrounds. The Foundation has supported this mission since 1987, raising funds to sustain and expand the school, which now operates on an 11-acre campus known as the "Village of Hope." It also facilitates a pen pal program and encourages tax-deductible donations to support the children.
Additionally, the Foundation organizes travel missions to Asapalli, offering volunteers opportunities to engage directly with the community. A dedicated bungalow on the campus provides lodging for these volunteers, equipped with basic amenities to support their stay during mission trips, such as Vacation Bible School sessions held in June and September. The Foundation collaborates with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) Church in India to extend its reach, aiming to establish Alliance House Fellowships and support broader evangelistic efforts, including leadership training and community health projects. Through these activities, the Braman Foundation seeks to uplift underprivileged children and foster Christian education and outreach in Assam.
